Vote, vote, vote!
So, one week into May already! Apologies for not writing sooner, but I had a big deadline to meet in my other job.
My monthly break is just starting, so I will be back on Monday or Tuesday.
It’s actually good timing, partly as I need to do some marketing for my other work, but also because of the general election – I bloody love them! I’ve been going to bed and getting up late for the last few days, so should last until at least 5am on Friday morning no problem. This is one of the most exciting, unpredictable elections I can remember, although perhaps tempered by the uninspiring selection facing us.
On the other hand, every vote really could matter this year. I’m in an extremely safe seat, but I’m going to go with my gut because the percentage of votes each party gets could matter in terms of forming coalitions etc.
I’ll never vote Tory or UKIP, and don’t like Ed Miliband. I do have a lot of time for some of the Green policies, but like many otherwise liberal people think it’s time to do something about the numbers of immigrants (especially unskilled ones from developing nations), so strongly disagree with their policy on that. The NHS is probably my main concern (aside from the general economy) – I have a fantastic service from both my GP and hospitals in SW Herts, as well as at the brilliant sex workers’ clinic at St Mary’s. I’m strongly against any more privatisation.
Of course, criminalisation of sex work is another issue close to my heart, and in particular the introduction of the ‘Nordic model’ – Labour are probably more of a danger here than the Tories, but fingers crossed whoever is in power will see sense: surely the police have more important things to worry about?
Anyway, snacks, caffeinated drinks, iPad and mobile all ready. It’s going to be a long and interesting night with Mr Dimbleby… 🙂
